Book Challenge By Erin 7.0

Y’all. I have been trying to remember to do this challenge every.single.year. And every year, I fail because I forget to sign up and participate, haha.

I just so happened to see a few tweets about it the other day and it reminded me that it was time to get on the challenge train! I’ve been a reading machine since I got my Kindle (oh dear, beautiful, love of my life, Kindle, why did I ever quit you in the first place?!) so naturally, I need a challenge to fuel my addiction a little further 😂

Here’s the topics for the books & how the points break out. I’m going to add in my choices and as I read the books, I’ll keep updating here! (PS: This is just a place for me to track what I’m reading for the challenge, not where I’ll be doing my reading roundups. There’s one of those coming soon, so hang with me!)

  • 5 Points: Read a book that is at least 200 pages. Freebie!
    • The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. 384 pages.
  • 10 points: Read a book that starts with the letter “B”.
    • Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate
  • 10 points: Read a book that has a (mostly) yellow cover.
    • Harry Potter & The Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling

  • 15 points: Read a book that has a picture of an animal on the cover.
    • The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
  • 20 points:  Read a book that was published in 2017.
    • Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth
  • 20 points:  Read a book with a compass or cardinal direction in the title.
    • Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire
  • 25 points:  The ALA’s “Banned Books Week” occurs while our challenge is happening.  Read a book from this list of the most commonly banned books in America.
    • Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
  • 30 points:  Read a fictional book about mental illness.
    • Sad Perfect by Stephanie Elliot
  • 30 points:  Read a book with a non-human main character; i.e. animals, elves, gods, robots, merpeople, etc.
    • Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris (there’s multiple main characters from what I can gather & one of them is a vampire, so I’m going with it!)
  • 35 points:  Read a book a Disney movie was based on OR a book based on a Disney movie.
    • The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

Eeekkk, this is going to be fun, y’all! Have y’all read any of these books? Any other suggestions for the categories above that I should think about? This is my preliminary list, so I’m all for changing things up if anyone has a good recommendation!

PS. Colored text means the book has been read.
