Things I Learned This Weekend.

things i learned this weekend | That Girl Myra

Have you ever had those days where it just seems like the ‘a-ha’ moments keep coming?! That truly felt like my weekend. It was nothing earth-shattering, but something about those little revelations just made me ridiculously happy.

So here’s what I learned…

| Sometimes you just have to say ‘yes’. I’m a terrible shopper. For the most part, I go to the stores only if & when I absolutely have to. And I normally know exactly what I’m going to buy the moment I walk in. Either that, or I’ll pick up 14 things, and then put everything back because, buyers remorse (before even purchasing) is a thing. Well, while out & about this weekend, I came across a pair of workout pants that made me s w o o n. They felt like butter & the heart eyes were bursting out of my head after putting them on. I didn’t really need them, so I went to put them back on the rack. BUT, with my hand halfway to the shelf, I stopped. “Nope,” I told myself. “I’m going to get them.” And so, I did. Because every once in a while, you just need to freakin’ say yes and be really excited about something nice you got for yourself.

Weekend takeaway: I don’t care if it’s a candy bar, a nail polish, a puppy, or a car…take the time to get yourself something that you absolutely love and indulge yourself with all the happy feelings.

| Laughing is key. There’s something special about great conversations with the important people in your life. Amir and I were chatting about something random to which I replied “New phone, who dis?” and you guys, he just doubled over in laughter. I don’t even know why that was so hilarious, but it was and hearing him laugh gave me the biggest delight.

Weekend takeaway: Take a moment to give someone a laugh this week — and then let their happiness radiate into you!

| Everyone needs alone time. I’ve always identified as an extrovert. And for the most part, I am. But I would be a liar if I didn’t say that sometimes, I just want to be alone. With my new normal being that I have a little one with me all the time, sometimes I find myself craving time for just me. On Sunday, Amir helped me get Sofia sorted out, I dropped her off at the gym day care, and then I enjoyed an intense workout by myself. As I was stepping off the dreaded incline treadmill portion, I realized how much I appreciate being able to use the gym as my sanctuary.

Weekend takeaway: Being selfish with your time (if you’re not throwing someone else’s time into the wind) is not wrong. If you need a break, ask for it. And then enjoy every moment of it. YOU deserve it.

I also learned that I really enjoy days with no plans. Our weekend only included 2 things that we had scheduled, and we were able to make up the rest as we went. And I have to say, it was really nice. This year, I’m working on being more of the “go with the flow” kinda person and I think I nailed it this weekend!

Your turn; tell me what you learned this weekend!

I’m a terrible shopper as well! I always feel guilty about buying things, even if it’s something I actually really need. Your blog is so cute!

RIGHT. I’ll have no proper shirts to wear for an event and I still reconsider buying one about 10 times. Ridiculous!! So glad you stopped by here. Can’t wait to check out your blog too! xo

I’m a horrible shopper! I completely get that remorseful feeling BEFORE buying things. However, I’m much more of an introvert so some quiet me time is an absolute necessity. I need it to recharge. 🙂

YES GIRL. I mentally calculate how much I’m about to spend and then freak out and put it all back. It’s so insane lol. Looking forward to checking out your blog now! xo
